New Business Start Up Ideas for 2022
In this article we’re going to discuss viable new business ideas for the post lockdown era. Perhaps after two years of restrictions you’re ready for a new challenge or maybe you’ve lost your job and need some new form of income. Either way we’re going to suggest ideas for new businesses in 2022.
Hybrid or remote working has become the norm over the past couple of years and unless you’re a public servant many people are aware that many careers don’t offer lifetime guarantees any longer.
While many people don’t like the insecurity of freelancing there are many employed roles that can be flexible in 2022. However, the focus of this article will be business start up or solopreneur ideas moving forward. While these roles can be done from home, they lend themselves to co-working spaces or collaborative environments such as small serviced office facilities and hot desking.
Marketing is a great area to move into. Lots of businesses need help with acquiring new customers and perhaps don’t have the budget for a full time hire or a large agency retainer but would be interested in someone helping them out for a few hours per week.
This could be as simple as leaflet delivery for certain businesses, particularly food delivery or estate agents. But it could also be providing website marketing services or social media marketing. You would of course need to invest the time to get good at these things before you offered them up to other businesses. All businesses today need a website and some may want specific apps or e-mail marketing services. The key will be to find out what service you enjoy delivering and then finding businesses that you can help moving forward.
Design work lends itself to more remote type work and is often completely computer based these days. You can also find studios that you can rent in some larger cities if you need more space or specific equipment. Many companies are looking for design skills and will hire you if you do a good job. Along with website design, graphic services are popular at the moment along with interior design if you have a flair for it.
Telemarketing or customer service style jobs lend themselves to remote or flexible working as all you need is a good phone line and a stable internet connection. The value comes from what you can add as a person to the business that hires you. This is also true of many other sales roles but obviously some, such as estate agents, will require you to get out and meet people in person. The good thing about these roles is that they don’t require a huge commitment to increasing your knowledge or skills as much of that will be provided by the company that hires you. Of course, if you have some underlying sales skills this makes it even easier, particularly if the role is incentivised by commission.
Food preparation and food delivery are popular business opportunities currently as more people work from home and are happy to outsource that aspect of their life. There are diet based food delivery companies along with specific cuisine orientated ones. Even just a handful of local regular customers can make this type of business venture viable.
We’ve looked at a few ideas that would be worth looking into if you’re looking for a change of scene this year. Many of these could also be a nice side income alongside your main job. Although any new venture is going to require a serious input of time and effort in order to get it all off the ground.
